Re: Charlotte

It was my grandmother's name. I have a friend with a 8 or 9 year old named it who goes by Charlie (I don't like that as a NN for it). I think its popularity right now is associated with British royalty plus it sounds like Scarlett, and both of those things make me like it less. Though I like soft Cha* names in general (Charlize, Charlene, Charmaine, Chantal), it seems fairly classic, and I would consider it as an honoring middle name, if I was planning on having kids.

I think people generally choose Scarlett because of familiarity with Charlotte, a well established favorite for centuries. Not the other way around.
Sure, though I think people use Scarlett because of Scarlett Johansson and Gone With the Wind (Rhett has also risen) plus maybe they like the color.
I meant that during this wave of Charlotte's popularity, it seems associated with Scarlett due to similarity in sound and timing of its rise, which diminishes my liking of it a bit, compared to back when I mainly associated it with my grandmother.
