Elise
WDYT of Elise?

Replies

There were bizarrely three girls called Elise at university with me, incidentally all studying French as a major.
And in Ist or 2nd year we had to read "Elise ou la vraie vie" by Claire Etcherelli published in 1867 (so just after my cohort at uni were born).Fûr Elisa was a common music box tune when we were born, tho. I have never heard the name since in real life (tho I have heard Eliza, and in Spain, Elisa).
I like it. It's so cute and very pretty.
I used to like it then I met a real life Elise and she was a disrespectful entitled person who soured my view of the name! Oh well!
It's one of my favourite forms of Elizabeth. I'm fond of it as a name on its own, but it's also pleasant as a nickname for Elisabeth. Elise is adorable and elegant.
Only Elizabeth, Élisabeth, and Elisabeth were unanimously signed amongst my friends.
What do you mean?
Isabel as well.
It's nice. It's quiet and silvery. I think I like it much more written than spoken - it would be a good name for a character in a book. We say "eh-LEEZ" here and I find "eh-LEES" much nicer.
Love it! Had I been a girl my mom may have named me this.
Sounds very dated to me.
I like it spelled Elyse.
thats very special
I find it very pretty! I'm surprised it wasn't on my PNL because I've liked it for a long time, though it's never been a top favorite. I think it's classic and sophisticated!
I'm neutral about Elise. But I feel Elise is better than Elsie (because of Elsie's associations (Elsie Dinsmore series, Elsie the Cow; I've seen both on internet) that I don't like). And I think Elise is okay as full name.

never heard of elsie, but i agree
Uusally pronounced eLEES here in South Africa: French isn't widely taught or used, so eLEEZ and deNEEZ, like hurricanes, hardly happen. I quite like it, though I wouldn't use it as a full name - I have used Elizabeth, a family name, as a mn for my daughter and that's my limit.
