Meaning & History

Of Guanche origin, possibly from *abănăšar(a) meaning "great tear" or "great separation". This was the name of the wife of Tenesor, the last guanarteme or king of Gáldar on the island of Gran Canaria, during the European conquest of the Canary Islands in the late 15th century. She was also the mother of Guayarmina.
