Meaning & History
Latinized form of Greek Ἀκουσίλαος (Akousilaos), which might be derived from ἄκουσις (akousis) "hearing" or ἀκούω (akouô) "to hear, to listen to" combined with λαός (laos) "people". This was borne by a 6th-century BC Greek logographer, who also wrote genealogies according to the Suda.
