I like the sound but I can't see why a parent would name their child sacrifice.

In many cultures, there are bad spirits believed to take away children, so the parents give their child a name with a misleading meaning, like "unwanted," to trick the spirits into thinking the child is not worth stealing. I believe that's what it is related to.
