Per Wikipedia, “Aenor” may itself be a corruption of “Adamardis”, apparently a feminine form of “Ademar”. “Ademar” is a masculine Germanic name, ultimately derived from “Audamar”, from the elements aud “wealth, prosperity” and mar “fame”.
So pretty!
We actually know that Aenor is a simplified version of Adenordis, the Latinization of a Germanic name which we do not know. However, we think it may be derived from Ademar.
Aénor is a beautiful name.I know that it is the origin of another name (Aliénor) that means 'The other Aénor'.Being linked with a Duchess mother of a Queen this name has a lovely Medieval and royal vibe but its sound is also very similar to some fantasy names like the Elves of Tolkien or the Valyrian names of ASOIAF. Both are good associations in my opinion.I've never seen it in real life but it is wonderful!I pronounce it a-AY-nawr with 'ay' like the French é and a closed 'o'.
Nice name.
Most likely pronounced as ay-norIt reminds me of anal. SorryNot a fan.
It sounds elvish and mysterious. I like it.
Aénor is not pronounced "ah ay nor".
Here is a French pronunciation: http://www.forvo.com/search/Aenor/
Where has this name been all my life? It's so beautiful! Aenor has a gentle, soothing, melodic quality to it, like a lullaby. I love it.
Given, however, that one of the rare few in history to be named as such is Aénor de Châtellerault (later the Duchess of Aquitaine), I would go with that and pronounce the name as ah-ay-nor.
I would pronounce this ay-nor. I don't know if it's wrong or not.
