Meaning & History

Derived from the Greek adjective ἀγλαός (aglaos) meaning "splendid, shining, bright" (see Aglaos) combined with either the Greek noun ὄψ (ops) meaning "voice" or the Greek noun ὤψ (ops) meaning "eye, face, countenance".

In Greek mythology, Aglaope is the name of one of the Sirens.
