Akio is a beautiful, calm, tranquil sounding Japanese name. The nickname Aki is really cute. Doesn't look like it's prone to be mispronounced, so it's a good name to consider in English-speaking countries.

I`ve met an Akio before that writes his name with a kanji for 'bright' but it`s different than the one listed in the description of this name. I am guessing that there are two or more ways of writing the character for 'aki' when it means 'bright'.
