Derived from the medieval honorific title of Aldiyar, which people used to formally address their ruler (such as a khan or a sultan) with. Its English equivalent would be Your Majesty. The word is ultimately of Persian origin and is said to literally mean "may Allah be with you".Note: I personally doubt that Aldiyar literally means "may Allah be with you" in Persian. I think that this word consists of only two elements, of which the second is either the Persian noun دیار (diyar) meaning "country, land" as well as "homeland" or the Persian noun یار (yar) meaning "friend, companion" as well as "assistant, helper". The first element must be an independent word rather than an article, since Persian does not make use of articles (unlike Arabic).- https://imya.com/name/18029 (in Russian; this is about the name)
