My first name is Alissa and honestly I personally don't like it. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty name (both spellings Alissa and Alyssa, I have no preference either way). However, as someone with this name it's exhausting to tell people "it's not spelled with a Y", "there's two S's not one", and "no it's an A at the beginning, not an E". I've had people - teachers even, who see the correct spelling on their attendance sheet - spell my name wrong. Alyssa, Elissa, Alisa Allissa, Allisa, Elisa, etc. Not to mention the sheer amount of time people call me Melissa, Jalissa, etc. Don't even get me started on the time I've gotten confused with another Alissa or Alyssa (either spelling since they're pronounced the same typically speaking).
Alissa is a pretty name, but I prefer the Alyssa spelling.
Feels more vanilla. I like Alyssa better.
I got a legal name change away from this because I got tired of people calling me Melissa, Alison, and Alicia, got tired of the mispronunciation, and the misspelling. This name is an actual curse, thankfully names can be changed.
Alyssa is MUCH better.
I much prefer Alyssa. Alyssa just looks better.
My favorite name as of right now! Love it! Alissa...it just looks so aesthetic. It sounds calm and pretty, and it looks better than Alyssa in my opinion. Alyssa looks wonderful too, but the "y" gets on my nerves because it pokes out. While Alissa has more symmetry. I like the sibling combination Alissa and Jonathan for brother and sister.
I prefer this to Alyssa.
This is my name, and I go by ALI. I love my name and even though it isn't on any souvenirs, I prefer it as ALISSA.
I prefer this to Alyssa, I do think both spellings are very nice though.
I prefer Alyssa with a "y", it's much prettier.
Alyssa and Alissa are both pretty. I guess I like Alyssa a tiny bit better.
I prefer Alyssa.
I used to know someone named Alissa and she was pretty cool and chill, she went by Lis which I think is a very cute nickname. Overall, I like this more than Alyssa. It's a nice name.
This is my name, and I’ve never liked it. It’s partly due to the fact it often gets misspelled. I also get called other names by people reading my name. The main reason is that it doesn’t suit me.
I do prefer it with a 'y' but it's grown on me a lot since I've been listening to The Agonist and Arch Enemy.
I personally can't stand this name. It's always sounded annoying to me.
I like this name, but I prefer the "y" spelling. This is my friend's name, a combination of her parents' names, "Al" and "Melissa", "Alissa".
Alissa is my name and I really love it. In my city, I'm the only Alissa so I'm proud of my name. It makes me very special.
I really like this name, and I prefer this spelling to Alyssa.
I love this name, it's light and flows off the tongue nicely. My good friend named Alissa goes by Ali (AL-ee), but I think Alissa works fine without the nickname also.
I like this name, it sounds sweet yet not too sweet. This is my friend's middle name and she uses it as a pen name because she doesn't like her first name.
My best friend is named Alissa Diane, it's pronounced the same as Alyssa. I think both are very pretty.
