Never heard this name before. Very pretty indeed.
Amarantha was a character from Sarah J Maas' A Court of Thorns and Roses. She was this evil queen who tortured young girls for fun and... well you get the picture. I would think this was a nice name, but my friends and I have a joke; whenever something goes wrong we say 'Thanks, Amarantha'. If I met someone with this name, that's all I would think about. Also, it would be weird if their name was Amarantha Clare. Read the book if you do not understand.
Much better and more original than the similar sounding Samantha, as well as coming with a multitude of cute nicknames; Amy, Ari, Amma, Annie, Anna.... I love it.
Very gothic sounding and beautiful!
What a fabulous name! So grand, and the meaning is lovely.
I think ultimately this is a great name; it sounds a bit like a combination of Araminta and Samantha. :)
Amaranth is the new single by Finnish metal band Nightwish. Lyricist and music writer Tuomas said this about what Amaranth is to him. "It's something ultimately beautiful and perfect, and if life blesses you with one, you need to caress it and love it unconditionally."
"Amarantha" could have a nameday on Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Easter) is the day of flowers and willows (the names of the other trees also have a nameday).
The amaranth flower signifies immortality.
