My name is Amoré. I have always loved having a sweet unique name and believe I live up to its meaning! However, no matter where I go in the world, people will often mispronounce my name or read it wrong and I get mixed reactions on first impression. Some absolutely love my name and go WOW when they hear it for the first time, others make fun in an endearing way (singing “That’s Amore” song) and others who don’t know its meaning or struggle to pronounce it correctly often just seem annoyed. Some restaurants and beauty stores like to use the name so my friends like to send me screenshots when they see it lol. My name would probably be weird in Europe or South America, same as the name “Love” may sound to an English person in their own language. I do enjoy hearing Andrea Bocelli singing my name though ;)
If you say it with an English accent, it will sound like “uh-mo-ray” with the rhotic “r” sound. If with a Spanish accent, it will sound like “a-mo-reh” with the simple “r” sound (alveolar tap). If with an Afrikaans accent, it will sound like “a-moo-ray” with again the simple “r” sound (alveolar tap) but the middle sound is different.
Amoré is commonly used as a female name by the Afrikaans community in South Africa (pronounced ah-mo-ray). The French looking accent on the “e” allows for a softer “ay” sound instead of “eh” at the end. Other name variations may include: Amor, Amour, Amori, Amoree, Amorique, Amora.
Amore is literally the word for “love” in Italian language. Some baby name websites say it is from French origin, which is incorrect because the French word for love is actually “l’amour” or “aimer”. The Spanish word for love is “amor” so it has a close connection, but if the spelling is with the “e” at the end, then it is Italian.
Cute! Like the song That's Amore!
Amore is pretty but I prefer Amoren as a masculine variation.
