Amrita Thapa is a Nepali communist politician, a former Maoist insurgent, coordinator of the Women Wing of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), and member of the Nepal House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal, elected under the proportional representation system.
Amrita Sher-Gil (30 January 1913 – 5 December 1941) was an eminent Hungarian-Indian painter. She has been called "one of the greatest avant-garde women artists of the early 20th century" and a "pioneer" in modern Indian art. Drawn to painting from an early age, Sher-Gil started getting formal lessons in the art, at the age of eight. She first gained recognition at the age of 19, for her oil painting titled Young Girls (1932).

She is considered the first prominent female Punjabi poet, novelist, essayist and the leading 20th-century poet of the Punjabi language, who is equally loved on both sides of the India–Pakistan border. With a career spanning over six decades, she produced over 100 books of poetry, fiction, biographies, essays, a collection of Punjabi folk songs and an autobiography that were all translated into several Indian and foreign languages.
What an exquisite name! It's so utterly gorgeous and elegant. "Rita" would be a cute nickname, too.
Amrita Rao is an Indian film actress and model. She has appeared in Hindi films of Bollywood and a few films in Telugu. Rao was born and raised in Mumbai; she made her screen debut in Ab Ke Baras (2002), for which she was nominated for the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award in 2003. One of her most popular roles was in the romance film Vivah (2006).
Amrita Singh is a bearer of this name.

On my Indian side of the family it's a common name. I think it's a great name. It has a lot of significance to me.
