Derived from the Greek noun ἀντέρως (anteros) meaning "counter-love". It consists of Greek ἀντί (anti) meaning "against, compared to, like" combined with the Greek noun ἔρως (eros) meaning "love" (see Eros).Anteros was the Greek god of requited love and the avenger of unrequited love, one of an order of winged love gods called the Erotes.
