It does indeed mean "noble, free" in Georgian, though the Chechen usage seems to be derived from Arabic أَنْذَرَ (ʾanḏara) meaning "preventive" or "warn, notify, caution". The Georgian meaning most likely does not apply to Chechen, as they are from entirely separate language families while many Chechen names are of Arabic origin.

This is also used amongst the Circassians in which it is also written as "Анзор" in Kabardian.
