This sounds like a dog name. I know a dog named Archie, but I’ve never met a person named Archie.

One of very few names where I would use the nickname over the whole form. Archibald is simply too out there, but Archie is perfectly suitable on a child as an elder.
Archibald "Archie" Roach AM (1956 – 2022) was an Gunditjmara and Bundjalung (Indigenous Australian) singer, songwriter and Aboriginal activist. Often referred to as "Uncle Archie", Roach campaigned for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
