There are medieval spellings, other variant spellings and surname spellings of Archibald that I've come across if you're not a fan of the "bald" part of Archibald. There's Archibold, Archibould, Archebold and Archebolt.

One of very few names where I would use the nickname over the whole form. Archibald is simply too out there, but Archie is perfectly suitable on a child as an elder.

Archibald "Archie" Roach AM (1956 – 2022) was an Gunditjmara and Bundjalung (Indigenous Australian) singer, songwriter and Aboriginal activist. Often referred to as "Uncle Archie", Roach campaigned for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. His wife and musical partner was the singer Ruby Hunter (1955–2010).

I used to think this name was so old fashioned and adorable. Now all I think of is Archie Andrews from the Netflix drama Riverdale. Archie Bradley is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted seventh overall by the Diamondbacks in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft.
