It's my favorite boy name these days. I think it's very handsome, kind, and has a warm atmosphere. And I think this is a wonderful modern version of Augustine and Augustus. This name is awesome!
I don't mind the comment (Moony2). I think it's nice for me but I've changed my mind, sounds like "awesome".
I never knew that it was derived from Augustine! That’s so cool. I love both Austin and Augustine, such wonderful names.
Nice name choices for newborn baby boy... this name really means great and magnificent. There's an actor named Austin Butler who played Elvis in Elvis 2022 film and his performance impressed recently deceased Lisa Presley last year, and it's also a city name in the Lone Star State, Texas.
Every guy named Austin that I've met is kind, smart, trustworthy, and attractive. I've never met a girl or gender-non-conforming person with this name, but I don't see why they can't have it. The name Austin sounds like the word "awesome," and that's solely my impression: awesome.
I really like this name. I think it's really cool how it's also the capital of Texas.
For the love of god, stop asking Austin's if we were named after Austin, Texas. I HATE IT SO MUCH!
I've never liked the name Austin, I don't see the appeal, I'd like to mention it's a name of a CITY!
It reminds me of autism. It's okay in my opinion.
These comments ain't it...There's no such thing as "boy's" names and "girl's" names. Sure there are masculine and feminine names, but there's a difference. A girl can have a masculine name and vice versa. Personally, I think Austin is cute for a girl!
Great name... especially love for a girl!
I think this is a really nice modern version to Augustine.
My best friend of about 3-4 years is named Austin. The name is really great and I think it is an awesome name to have as well.
One of the handsome-est names out there! I recommend naming your SON Austin!
This is my boyfriend’s name. He goes by a different name, but I think it’s cute. Kind of juvenile sounding though. Can't picture it on an old man.
Handsome as hell!
Very handsome name!
Very age-neutral but refreshing name. Also the capital of Powerhouse Texas, which is a great association.
Austin is one of my all-time favorite names. And DON'T use it for a daughter!
I named my first son Austin. Not because it was trendy, in fact I had never heard the name before until I heard a Mom and Dad running after their little blond haired 2 yr old who had so much life in him. It's a very strong name that that will work well with him when he's an old man.
Sounds too masculine on a girl. Why give your daughter a name that will make everyone assume she's a boy? The child will end up being the one to bear the consequences of the name.
Stop giving your daughters this name.
I was born in the 1950s and was the ONLY "Austin" I ever knew or heard of. I absolutely HATED the name. Classmates would frequently taunt me with "Austin from Boston," "Austin Snotstin," etc. It wasn't until the late 1990s that I learned "Austin" had become a popular name. Oh dear God WHY? I'm kinda at peace with it now. :/
This name reminds me of the city of Austin, which doesn't really conform to the rest of Texas (in a good way). So, if you want your son to be unique, this would be a nice name.
I live in Austin and I've met dozens upon dozens of Austins. It's a nice name to me, however it's really strongly associated with the city if you're in Texas. Cities are ever-changing, it's as if the meaning of the name can change over time, which I don't see as a good thing. People will be talking about your kid like, "Austin was so cool in the 80s and now he's too popular."
My name is Austin and honestly I wouldn't change it. I love how it sounds. Masculine yet very intimate.
Absolutely love this masculine name and picked it out before I even got pregnant. Named our first son Austin Anthony!
My boyfriend is named Austin. He isn't stuck up at all. He is sweet and very funny.
This gross name reminds me of Austin Powers. Sick!
I've never liked this name. I personally know an Austin and he's nice and all, but I just dislike it. Sorry.
The name Austin has long been a family name. The first was my Uncle Austin who was born in the 1920's, then my brother in the 1950's a cousin born in the 1960's and now my grandson who was born in 2014. When my brother and cousin were younger, they were the only Austins we knew in the neighborhoods or their schools. The name then became more popular in the '70's & 80's with the 6 Million Dollar Man and Austin Powers. I wish it was a little less popular for my grandson's current generation. But I do love the name.
I like my name, it is an awesome name. My mom named me Austin and my name is popular in Canada.
I like the name, it's the capital of Texas! But it's too young sounding too me, I like names that are both young, but still old sounding. Austin reminds me of a young cowboy.
To me this name seems overused. I know like 5 Austin's in my grade.
I love this name, it's cool, uncommon and very masculine.
A handsome, hot, strong, fantastic, masculine name. ;)
Ugh, BOY'S NAME only. The girls have stolen enough traditionally masculine names without Austin being added to the list.
I like how the name Austin transcends time. My great-grandfather's (born in 1888) first name was Austin. My co-worker had a baby boy a year ago and she named him Austin. Plus my friend's daughter's name is Austyn. So in all these years, it's still a nice name and it's crossing genders too.
I actually like Austin as a girl's name, even though it is traditionally masculine. It is unique and strong. I love to write and a female character in one of the stories I'm writing is named Austin.
I don't know why everyone is saying this name is overused. I've only met one Austin in my life. But I live in NYC, maybe it's more common in other places. Anyway, I like this name. But I don't think it ages very well. Imagine an eighty-year old man named Austin. It doesn't fit.
I like it, but everyone else seems to like it as well. Now it's very boring and overused. I wouldn't use it.
Never liked this name. I'm still hearing it on way too many boys under the age of ten, and once I even walked past some people who were having a conversation about how every time one of them called for Austin, ten little boys would turn around! When I hear this name, I think, "Ooh, over-trendy parents!" There's also the association (in New England at least) with the Austen Riggs psychiatric hospital in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
My little brother's name is Austin. There are a lot of Austins around our town, but he is the only one his age. I love this name. It sounds so sweet. :)
I reallyyyy like Austin. But my only problem is that it won't be so "oh-my-gosh-that-is-so-adorable" when he's fifty.
Way way way too overused. 39 Austins go to my school.
Austin is not only the name of a city in Texas, it's the capital of Texas. This name is extremely overused, and I urge everyone to avoid it, even if you live in Texas. The same goes for Cody, Wyatt, Dallas, and Colt.
I really like this name. It's really cute.
My son's name is Austin. I love this name. It's very nice. No room for teasing here. I look out for that because I was a victim of teasing as a kid.
I think this is an adorable name for a little boy, and it grows up well, too. I know one Austin, and he's a really funny, likable guy.
It's a cool name.
Well, my son is named Austin Hunter and I love it. I named him after "Austin" on Days of Our Lives. The older Austin real name is Patrick Muldoon, he is such a cutie. Anyway, my son likes his name and there are not too many in his class which is what I was going for. : )
I like this name for a boy. I know of 2 boys with this name one is 6 and the other is 3.
To me, this is the epitome of a trendy, faddy name which will become quite dated.
Austin is the coolest name in the world.
Austin = Popular, cute, stuck-up, athletic, JERK. Sorry, I base my opinion on all the Austins I know. There are good ones out there though! Ok name though.
I agree with Miamya. she is so right. My best friend's name is Austin. He is athletic, brags a lot, and very full of himself.
A bit overused but otherwise okay.
I'm a girl, and this is my middle name. I really like it, because it's unique for my gender and it blends nicely with my first name.
I liked this name when my 7 year old brother was a baby but now I hate it! He is so mean, as we speak he is throwing some big old hard thing at me and hitting me in the back. I like the masculine sound it has to it though!
