Eriksson went to South-West Africa in 1866 (before Germany had established its colony of German South-West Africa in 1884) to serve out a three-year apprenticeship to Charles John Andersson. In 1871, with Swede Anders Ohlsson, he established a brewery at Omaruru. Eriksson established a trading post there, which flourished and by 1878 employed about forty whites. Eriksson's business was based upon long-distance trading between southern Angola and Cape Colony, which necessitated the establishment of regional trade routes. Axel is the name of a bad guy in Kingdom hearts. He is part of a group called Organization 13. He is my favorite organization member. Axel is a nobody, which means that he has no heart. Axel's weapon is fire, so I'm guessing that his name meaning has to do with fire or ashes or something.

What I like about the organization 13's names is they're all anagrams of their original names with an added x. For example, Axel's former name was Lea. Barely male, but when I try that out, the names end up illegible. Kudos to the creators!
