In the "Book of Dede Korkut", Banu Çiçek (the ç is pronounced as tch) is a beautiful woman who Bamsı Beyrek wants to marry. When they meet, she pretends to be her sister-in-law and tells him that Banu Çiçek will only marry a man who can beat her, and tells him that if he can beat her, he can beat Banu Çiçek too. In the end, she almost wins but Bamsı Beyrek squeezes her breast, in an act of absolute dishonour, and gains the upper hand. They marry afterwards.
This is such a cute and pretty name!
"The Story of Prince Achmed and the Fairy Paribanu" is a fairy tale in The 1001 Nights (Arabian Nights). Paribanu (which means "fairy lady") is a Queen of the Fairies, who falls in love with, marries and repeatedly rescues the human Prince Achmed. This was made into the silent animated movie "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" in the 1920s, in which Paribanu takes a more passive role. But who cares, it's beautiful.
I think this would make a great name for a cat! It's refined but simple at the same time.
In Mogul India the title Banu was given to princesses.
