Meaning & History

A character created by J.R.R. Tolkien in 'The Hobbit'. Bofur is a Dwarf in Thorin's Company who is related to Bifur and Bombur. Bofur is not one of Durin's Folk, he is one of Moria.

Tolkien took the name from the Dvergatal "Catalogue of Dwarves" in the Völuspá, a part of the Poetic Edda.
