Possibly derived from Old Welsh element cain meaning "good, lovely" and drych meaning "mirror, image".It was born by a 5th century Welsh saint, Ceindrych verch Brychan. It is also the name of a medieval Welsh queen, Queen Ceindrych of Brycheiniog.
