This is the name of one of my favourite footballers, Cristiano Ronaldo.
I'm surprised this name never took off in the UK. Cristiano Ronaldo is very popular here among football fans. Or maybe was, since his move to Real Madrid. He was popular during his Manchester United days, at least. It seems to have got more use in France than here, probably because Latinate -o names (like Enzo, Léo, Hugo, Théo, Timéo...) are super-trendy there.
The Italian pronunciation:Kree-STEE-Ahn-Oh"C" equals a hard "K," in this case. Roll your "R." Stress "I" to "EE." "S," when spoken, could be heard as "Z." For "Tia," stress "I" to "EE" once again. "A" is pronounced as in "Father." "No" is as usual.
I don't like the footballplayer Cristiano Ronaldo too much. But I like the name Cristiano. It's similar to mine, plus it's original and fun. =)
