This is reminiscent of débarras, which means "riddance" in French (as in, bon débarras "good riddance"). The folk saint Wilgefortis was called Débarras in France and Uncumber in England ("most of her appellations denote either that she escaped from great danger or that she rescues others from scrapes and troubles").
