Male given name that comes from the island of Gran Canaria. It is the Spanish version of the original Addur amas. He was a courageous leader who lived in the 15th century. One of the main leaders of the aboriginal resistance on the island of Gran Canaria against the conquest undertaken by the Catholic Monarchs for the Crown of Castile. His death fighting against the invading forces meant an important loss for the morale of the resistance of the Island, for which he was called, according to the historian José de Viera y Clavijo, the last of the Canaries.

Nowadays, this name is used in the Canary Islands.
