MissClaire, I've never heard it pronounced that way. Whenever I've met someone named Dorit it's always been pronounced Door-eet.

"Dorit" is a feminine variant of "Dor" which is the Hebrew word for "generation". "Dorit" in itself means nothing. [noted -ed]
