Your daughter will be teased with this name. Try something different. Maybe Dorothy, Doris, Doreen, or something like that. Me and my brothers used to have a blue parrot fish who we named Dory after Finding Nemo because it was one of my favorite movies. The sad part was my brother fed it too much and it died. We were 3 years old.

Pretty and cute, but a bit youthful in sound. The names Dora and Doris are more mature. I hate Dorothy and Doreen, however, so I'd only use Dora or Doris instead of Dory as the real name of the child and perhaps call her Dory.

In the French version of Finding Nemo, Dory is called Doris, and I think that it would be acceptable to have Dory as a nickname for just that.

I guess this is a little weird but although I like this name it makes me think of someone with short term memory loss. And not just because of the fish in finding Nemo. Long before that movie came out I had a friend named Dory who was a spaz simply because she coudn't remember anything.
