The name Eamonn was given to 38 baby boys born in the US in 2012.
I very fond of this name. Another pronunciation is Aim-an.
Well I know a person called Eamonn, and it's quite a confusing name. When people pronounce it wrong, they usually pronounce it either "Ee-mon" or "Ay-men" but it is supposed to be pronounced "Ay-mon" emphasized on the "mon".
I have also heard this name pronounced as EY-mon, and must say that I prefer it that way.
One man on the Austrailian Olympic swimming teams was Eamonn Sullivan. His team came in second place to the US.
Ay-mon? Sounds like a Rasta greeting.
I prefer this name as "Eamon." The pronunciation of the EA befuddles many English speaking people, and throwing in a superfluous -N just compounds the confusion. Still it is a beautiful name.
