Very cute nickname but Elsie as a name reminds me of those pimples/warts you get on the inside of your mouth. Also don’t go with Elsa the Frozen reference is toooo much.

Oh how adorable! I find it a lovely and very sweet name. A perfect diminutive for Eloise, Elsa or Elizabeth although as a full name it is not bad either. Apparently Elsie is gaining strength every year. And it does not surprise me!

I think Elsie is cute! Personally, I would like the name Eloise with the nickname Elsie because that’s just me, I love names with nicknames. I guess Ellie could also be a nickname for Elsie though so that would be so cute too. If I was to use the name Elsie I would go full on girly with Elsie May.

Reminds me of the name Eloise. I think this should stay as a nickname for Elizabeth, though, because I can't exactly picture it looking good as a first name.

My cousin is named Elsie. It's her first name, not a diminutive. I always liked it!

Elsie is a very cute name, which gives me an impression of small and cute, as well as grown-up and cool. It reminds me of a cool green stone, an emerald, somehow. It somehow echoes around your mind, making you remember it. I have never met anyone called Elsie, but now I wish I have. I haven't really thought about it much until last week, when they mentioned the name in History. The way the teacher said it reminded me of chances, hope and emeralds. Until then it had been edging up my favourite names list, and now it is my joint-second-favourite. It's a very pretty name.

Elsie is great as a shortened version of Elspeth, but also just as it is.

I personally LOVE the name and will also be naming my daughter Elsie with Clare as her middle name. My great grandparents named my beloved grandfather L.C., just initials and my father's side carried the name Clarence as first and then middle names for 3 generations so I want to honor the beloved men on both sides of my family but still have a uniquely feminine name. If she ever does get picked on for sharing the name with the Bordan Cow, well.. I will just have to smile and tell her "Well, you know that I can't live without you or cheese".

My name is Elsie. I was named for my grandmother. I grew up when the Borden's Elsie the Cow advertising campaign was in full swing and I did get teased. I didn't like the name as a child because it was so unusual but I have grown to love it as an adult. In my life I have only met about 3 other Elsie's. It IS a pretty name and still rather rarely used I think.

Love the name Elsie. Its very cute, quirky, vintage sounding but not too unusual. I also know a grown up Elsie who is very cool/stylish.

My best friend is about to name her baby girl Elsie. Very feminine, uncommon without being strange or hard to pronounce. One of the throwbacks to older names that doesn't sound unattractive.

My name is Elspeth but everyone knows me as Elsie and I much prefer it to other diminutives of my name i.e. Ellie, Els, Ella etc.
However, one draw back is that I seem to only share my name with ladies over 65 or children under 2.

My little cousin is named Elsie Grace which I think sounds rather old-fashioned, but in a good, traditional sort of way. It's not common in people my age, but seems to be becoming more popular.

Too cow-like. All I can picture is a cow with a bell around its neck. If it weren't for the cow, it would be tolerable, but still too cutesy.

I have lived the past 19 years with the name Elsie, I have enjoyed not having to deal with multiple Elsies in classrooms but I must admit the only problem with this name is not the name itself but the world that must read it. So many people will see the name Elsie and pronounce it Elise, it happens about 90% of the time.

Despite its having recently re-entered the girls top 1,000 names in the United States, I still think of this name as associated with old ladies, but I don't really find it to be hideous as opposed to Bertha and Gertrude.

I think that Elsie is a lovely name by itself but I had a dog when I was small called Elsie and can no longer think of it as a human name.

I think Elsie is a very pretty name, and not as a shortend version of Elizabeth. But my grandma has all these names she calls 'Maids Names' because she grew up with maids. And she dosnt like the name Elsie because she reckons it's a maids name. I DISAGREE FULLY.

I have to say that I love this name, and there might be a possibility that I will use this name on my daughter some day (of course, if it doesn't get too popular). I thought this was just me at first, but this seems to sound more "Canadian" than "American", along with the pet form Gracie. Simply winsome denomination!

My grandmother's name was Elsie and I wanted to name a daughter after her, but I was worried that the Borden mascot would be a source of teasing as she got older. Such a shame. So I transposed two of the letters and named her Elise, which I also think is beautiful.

I think Elsie is a beautifully pretty name. I like it as a first name. Just like Katy's little sister, Elsie Carr, in the book "What Katy Did."
