I would name my son "Emmanuel" but I'll call him "D", because D means "Manual motorcar" in the Malaysian driving licence. Speaking of which, his full name shall be "Lesen Emmanuel"...
What a cute unique biblical boy name. I feel it's underused a lot. Deserves way more attention.
I love -el names (Gabriel, Raphael, Nathaniel) but this one evaded me…until now! It’s gorgeous! Such a soft yet strong name for a boy. Manny is a sweet nickname too. The meaning “god is with us” is so special.
Handsome sexy name. I love it.
To me, Emmanuel is the most beautiful name.
This name is trash.
I like this name! It has a cool meaning (yes I know it's religious). Manny is a good nickname.
Handsome! I like it!
Very sweet name.
Me no like name. It is a horrible name. Why would you ever name your child Emmanuel? It is a curse.
I love this name, however, this was another name for Jesus and I wouldn’t name a child after the Messiah unless you see the meaning as Jesus’s middle name as it is.
I'm not a religious person so initially the name was too associated with religion for me. However, it also strikes nostalgia and a strong association with Christmas due to the carol "O Come, O Come Emmanuel". I don't hear it so much now, but when I attended my Catholic primary school, it was very common. Hearing the name, I just picture children singing, wearing tinsel and Christmas cracker hats, sitting cross-legged on the floor with a glittering Christmas tree in the corner etc. It's a peaceful and kind sounding name.If I were to use it, I would use it due to my personal association and not the religious one (I realise Christmas is technically a religious holiday, but as a non-religious person, I celebrate everything but the religious part).
It's a pretty-sounding name, but way too religious for a lapsed Catholic like me. It makes me think of the advent song "O Come, O Come Emmanuel."
I really like this name, but for some reason my first thought was that a boy called this might be nicknamed Emma. I later thought of the other possible nicknames like Manuel and Manny.
I think this name would would make an excellent middle name.
I could have sworn this was a Mexican name.
I usually like most names that contain "God" in their meaning(s). I consider these types of meanings as a good strong, powerful message for the individual and I believe one would be very lucky to have these kind of names! (I'd personally feel honoured.)
My name is Emmanuel. I really like it because it is rare, long and powerful. I am an atheist but I don't really care for the 'real' meaning, and it does not really affect me. I know what it means, but obviously it is now personal and associated with me. I love the name. I've had only one class where there was another Emmanuel, so it's pretty unique.
Well I find this name to be strong, it just so happens that it's my middle name, and it took me a while to appreciate it, because I'm a girl. But my mother had me late, so she said, "God must have been with me!" And there we have it. Emmanuel.
I really like this name, for its meaning and for just the way it sounds. Awesome and unique for a middle name, but I think it would work well for a first name, too.
I like the name. Probably wouldn't name my kid this though, because of its association with Christ. Seems kind of sacred.
Emmanuel (spelt as Emanuel I think) Ravelli is one of the characters played by Chico Marx in "Animal Crackers." I've always liked this name, especially its meaning "God is with us." One of my favorite masculine names, it has a strong feel to it. A very nice name.
I love this name for what it is, and its meaning. I really love it because it's in reference to Jesus Christ. I really love the Christmas Carol "O Come O Come Emmanuel". I would use it as a middle name.
Emmanuel is the middle name for my son, Reese Emmanuel. Personally, I would have liked to use it as a first name; however, I was outvoted by everyone else. I was troubled and on drugs before I got pregnant and when I found out I was, I knew it was a sign from God that everything would be okay. In the bible, God tells a woman to name her baby Emmanuel to show everyone that things will be okay. I really enjoy biblical names. I believe all babies shoul be named with a reason and purpose. Don't just name your baby something because it sounds good. Give them definition.
I love the meaning of this name.
I just love this name! It was the name of my favorite great uncle whom everyone called Manuel. (Pronounced MAN-yul not man-WELL). I gave this name to my younger son as his middle name.
