Old Swedish form of Æimundr or a variant of Ømund. Æimundr is derived from Old Norse einn "one, alone" and mund "protection". Ømund is possibly derived from Old Norse ey island" and mund. Emund was the name of some Swedish kings, like Emund the Old (reign: 1050-60). The name Emund was most common in the Swedish province Östergötland.
