Scripts Ἐρευθαλίων(Ancient Greek)

Meaning & History

Derived from the Greek adjective ἐρευθαλέος (ereuthaleos) meaning "reddish, ruddy", which is ultimately derived from the Greek noun ἔρευθος (ereuthos) meaning "redness, flush". Also compare the Greek verb ἐρεύθω (ereutho) "to make red, to stain with red" and the Greek adjective ἐρυθρός (eruthros) or (erythros) meaning "red". Finally, in Greek mythology, Ereuthalion was the name of several characters, one of them being the eponymous founder of the city Ereuthalia.
