Meaning & History

Means "slavery" in Spanish, taken from the Spanish (Galician) title of the Virgin Mary, Nuestra Señora de la Esclavitud (Nosa Señora da Escravitude), meaning "Our Lady of the Slavery," venerated at the church in Padrón in the Galician province of A Coruña. For this reason, it is used mostly in Galicia, particularly in that province of A Coruña.
