The name Finnick was not given to the character due to the word 'finicky'. It's more complex than that & was intended as a combination of Fin(n) to denote Finnick coming from the fishing district (District 4) as well as being derived from Finn from the Old Irish name Finn, derived from Finn {Fionn} meaning "white, blessed" + Nick from the Greek name Νικόλαος (Nikolaos) meaning "victory of the people", derived from Greek νίκη (nike) meaning "victory" and λαός (laos) meaning "people".
Finnick Odair from the Hunger Games.
This sounds handsome and strong on a boy.
The name wasn't based on the word "finicky". It doesn't describe the character at all and he was a well-loved, positive character. It was based on "fin" as in the fin of a fish, given that the character lived close to the seaside and came from a district of fishermen.
