I think Firdaus is an interesting name. Although I don't love its pronunciation, I do love its beautiful meaning, and I appreciate its uniqueness and gender-neutrality.

Firdaus is also frequently used as a feminine given name in Arabic, Indonesian, and Urdu. The Bengali unisex form of this name is Ferdous. A known female bearer of this name is Firdaus from the book "Woman at Point Zero". However, Firdaus is more common for males. This is the name of the main character of the biographical novel Woman at Point Zero.It tracks her (yes, her) journey from an abused child through an abusive marriage to prostitution and finally jail, because she killed her pimp.
