Hi um I am a person that has this name and I like it but then I don't because a lot of people make fun of me but I love this name and it means flower in Spanish and I am Hispanic with Italian family.
This is a name that should only be used by Spanish speakers, in English it would sound like floor.
Also Portuguese: https://www.behindthename.com/name/flor/top/portugal [noted -ed]
I prefer Flora. It's much more feminine, gentle, and sweet.
Also Gascon, Provençal and Languedocian: https://ieo-oc.org/spip.php?page=article&id_article=300 --- Source: Institut d'Estudis Occitans
Flor is very beautiful reminding me of flower, la Flor means a flower in Spanish and fleur means flower in french.
'La Flor' means "the flower"; 'a flower' is "una Flor".
Flor is beautiful... when spoken by Spanish speakers. When Anglophones say it, though, it tends to sound awful. There's even a scene in the movie "Spanglish" when the character Flor (and others) are explaining to Téa Leoni how to say Flor, and Leoni goes, "... Floor. Like what I walk on?"Yeah. But in Spanish, Flor (with the trilled R) is lovely.
