Meaning & History
The first element of this name is either derived from the Lithuanian verb gaudyti meaning "to take" as well as "to catch, to hunt" or from the Lithuanian adjective gaudus meaning "sonorous, resonant, ringing, loud, echoing". The second element is derived from the Lithuanian verb rimti meaning "to calm down, to quieten". It is related to the Lithuanian adjective ramus meaning "calm, quiet, peaceful" (see Ramūnas) and the Lithuanian noun ramybė meaning "tranquility, peace, quiet".In other words: this given name is basically the same as Rimgaudas, but with the name elements in different places.
