Meaning & History

Derived from the Svan word გუანც (guanc), which literally means "wren" but means "mischievous, restless, wild" in a figurative sense.

This name was most notably borne by Gvantsa Kakhaberidze, the third wife of king Davit VII of Georgia (1215-1270).
