Nicola Griffith published the novel "Hild" in 2013, a historical novel about the childhood and teen years of the English woman who later became known as St. Hilda of Whitby. It was extremely well reviewed, won the Washington State Book Award, and was a finalist for a Nebula Award. A sequel, "Menewood", was published in 2023.
