Can anyone really hear this name without thinking of migraines? Lol.
Igraine Ohnefurcht (= I without fear) is the heroine of a novel by Cornelia Funke. In the audio book, the name is pronounced according to german pronunciation rules (ee-GRYE-nuh).
This name has also been spelled Igrayne.

The mother of Arthur's name was also spelled Ygraine.
This name always reminds me of the word 'migraine.' However Igraine is my favourite female character in Arthurian Legend. Just don't like her name.
I've heard Igraine pronounced "ig-RAYN."
I'm not sure if it's relevant, but in Marion Zimmer Bradley's "Mists of Avalon" Viviane mentions that Igraine's original name is Gráinne.
