Derived from a Mingrelian word that means "bright, brilliant, glittering, sparkling".

In Georgian literature, Khvicha is the name of the protagonist of the novel Mamluk (1912) written by the Georgian author Kondrate Tatarishvili (1872-1929), who is better known under the pen name Uiaragho. A film based on the novel was released in 1958 under the same name.

A notable real-life bearer of this name is the Georgian professional soccer player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (b. 2001).
