Spencer W. Kimball was an American civic leader, religious leader, philanthropist, and Christian author. Kimball was called to be President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1975-85, and as such was considered a prophet of God by those sharing his faith. In 1977, he received the Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement. A statue bearing his likeness is featured on the Las Sendas hiking trail in his home state of Arizona, USA.
