Meaning & History
The first element of this name is either derived from Greek λεων (leon) meaning "lion" or from Attic Greek λεώς (leos) meaning "the people" (see Leos). The second element is derived from Greek σθενος (sthenos) meaning "vigour, strength". This name was borne by an Athenian general (4th century BC) and an Athenian admiral (4th century BC).
