Đinh Diễm Liên, born 1971, is a Vietnamese singer and actress born and raised in Đà Lạt. Diễm Liên was born in Việt Nam into a family of five sisters where all the girls, including her mother, are named Liên. The only difference is their middle name.

'Lien' is sometimes used in place of Liên in English. Lián is the Mandarin for 'lotus' as well and is pronounced 'LEE-AYN' (similar to the Vietnamese pronunciation, but N is not nasal). Both names are pronounced very similar to the English 'Leeann', but it is sometimes pronounced in English as 'Lynn' (Liên/Lien is my middle name and that's how it has been 'Americanised').
