I don’t really like the spelling! It seems like it’s trying too hard, sorry! Martin is a much more standard and mature spelling.
The holiday of St. Maarten is celebrated in some parts of the Netherlands on the night before November 11th, the date of death of the saint. It's similar to Halloween with children singing songs at doors and getting sweets.
Sounds and looks better than Martin. Not as goofy and dorky with the double a.
