How about Maja Salvador, the Filipina actress?
Very good name.
As a Slovene name, it is apparently also considered an (obsolete) diminutive of Magdalena via the form Majdalena: https://sl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maja
Also Kashubian: https://csb.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_s%C3%A9wnika
Also Hungarian: https://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maja

You'll find numerous bearers on social media.
Only used in Poland as a translation of Maia, not a diminutive of Maria.
The name is also used in Iceland.
The actual (or at least variant) German pronunciation is MUH-yuh /'ma:ja:/. There’s a popular cartoon series “Biene Maja” based on the children books by Waldemar Bonsels, translated into English as “Maya the Bee”. The German theme song interpreted by Karel Gott is also very well known and uses the aforementioned pronunciation (with a Czech accent).
The name Maja was given to 57 baby girls born in the US in 2012.
Maj is also common (which is also the month May in Swedish), on its own and in countless combinations like Maj-Britt, Maj-Lis (Maja-Lisa).
It is pronounced like Maya, the J is soft. Can also be a nickname for Maj-Britt and other Maj-.... names.
