Invented by author Leigh Bardugo for her "Shadow and Bone" book series, first released in 2012. It is the Ravkan version of Malcolm.Malyen Oretsev, nickname Mal, is one of the main characters of the book which is set in the fictional Russia-inspired country of Ravka.
