This name is so cute and for what?
I can't wait to name my baby boy this, also because of the rapper Eminem! Absolutely great for a masculine name.
Definitely not a fan of this name, especially because of Eminem. I can't stand Eminem and his violent, sexist music.

This name really reminds me of marshmallows.
Marshall is a nice name! I find it unisex, personally.

Mar, shall you do this? Mar Shall.
This name reminds me of water because of the ‘marsh’ part. I like it much better than any of the names that actually mean water. Additionally, my mom loves horses and she will most likely not meet or be able to spend much time with her grandchildren (because she had me at a late age and it looks like I am on the same trajectory), so I might use it for my first son, even though I do have one other boy name that I like a bit better.
I rate it 2/10. It sucks and I don’t like it.
I'm changing it later in life.
I rate Marshall 6/10.It is an old favourite of mine but it is no longer in my list. The fact is that it is a military word and then its sound is too similar to 'marsh' and 'marshmallows' to be a good given name.

NOT Awessooooooommmmme.

My seven year old son's name is Marshall. We are a horse family so "Keeper of the Horses" was very appropriate and my husband loves old westerns. We have never had people look at us weird for naming him Marshall, but he is the only Marshall in school. Love it.
I can't associate this name with anything other than Eminem, and to me, that's not a positive thing. If this wasn't a problem, I would think it was a fine name for a boy.
This is the best name ever, I love it even if it does come with some bad nicknames. I grew used to the nicknames, so they don't bother me anymore. I can't imagine how you couldn't like this name.
Before I didn't understand the reason that my father gave me this name, despite being a girl. As a child, my friends at school teased me saying that I wasn't feminine; nowadays it doesn't matter to me. I have friends who like my name and say 'it's cool!'.
Frequently I receive e- mails at work addressed "Mr. Marshall"... especially the new suppliers; but I'm still proud of this name.
Marshall. A 'strong' male name, although it can be used as a female christian name also. I considered the name for my son (now 19) but it wouldn't blend with my surname. It is an uncommon name, I personally do not know anyone called Marshall but it is less known and used here in the UK which might explain it.
A person with this as their christian name in my opinion will be strong and fair; of course, I could be wrong.
Good name, but don't like the name just because of some celebrity.
The name has been around way before him.
This is my sons name and I love it! He has only just turned one and he gets a lot of positive comments about his name. Most people have never come across another Marshall. It may be an old name but he pulls it off! I think it fits in with all the very common surname type names (Mason, Cooper, Fletcher etc) but a lot less common!
Marshall Lee is the gender swapped version of Marceline in Adventure Time.
I admit most of my love for this name comes from Eminem, but it's also a great sounding name. It's strong, mature, serious and not made up trash.
Marshall University bears this name. Yay!
Now I like Eminem as much as the next person but even he cannot really pull off this name. In his case it was already a family name (he's the third) and the man is going on 40. That just shows how very old-fashioned this name is.
For me, Marshall conjures up the image of an overweight 80 year old man who constantly laments about how much better everything was back in the day. I cannot picture this name on anyone under 65. It also makes me think of "Marsha" and marshmallow. So I'm definitely not a fan.
In the 2007 hit "August Rush," an Irish character by the name of Marshall O'Connelly (brother to Louis: played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is portrayed by Alex O'Loughlin.
Are you guys kidding me? It means "horse servant", and, I guess because I watch a lot of historical movies and such- I always picture a guy in livery uniform leading horses around. The word itself seems a little heavy on the consonants.
I love this name! This is Eminem's name, and he's awesome! I think this is a wonderful name. I would definitely name a son this.

Word History: Hard-riding marshals of the Wild West in pursuit of criminals reemphasize the relationship of the word marshal with horses. The Germanic ancestor of our word marshal is a compound made up of *marhaz, "horse" (related to the source of our word mare), and *skalkaz, "servant," meaning as a whole literally "horse servant," hence "groom." The Frankish descendant of this Germanic word, *marahskalk, came to designate a high royal official and also a high military commander, not surprising given the importance of the horse in medieval warfare. Along with many other Frankish words, *marahskalk was borrowed into Old French by about 800; some centuries later, when the Normans established a French-speaking official class in England, the Old French word came with them. In English, marshal is first recorded in 1218, as a surname (still surviving in the spelling Marshall); its first appearance as a common noun was in 1258, in the sense "high officer of the royal court." The word was also applied to this high royal official's deputies, who were officers of courts of law, and it continued to designate various officials involved with courts of law and law enforcement, including the horseback-riding marshals we are familiar with in the United States.
