This is my name (not short for anything). I pronounce it muh-lee-yah, the same as Malia or Maleah.
I pronounced it mel e uh.
I like it pronounced as these:
Mə-LEE-ə
MEL-yə
I don't like it pronounced as MEE-lee-ə (Amelia without the A), it sounds too much like Amelia or Emilia and it doesn't have the same charm.
How do you pronounce this?
I love the meaning!
I love it more than any other name.
Melis is also used in Italy.
Despite being very rare it was used the latest time in 2015 when there were born less than five Melias.
Also a diminutive of Amelia.
This is my name, I love it and I am very proud to have it. I am happy to report that it's very, very hard for someone to find a way to tease you about this name, and so far no one has.

This is the Georgian word for fox.
Meli also means "honey" in Greek.
Melia does not mean 'ash tree'. The Meliae were nymphs of the ash tree, but they got their name from the sweet honey-like sap. From Wikipedia:"Many species of Fraxinus, the ash trees, exude a sugary substance, which the ancient Greeks called méli, "honey". The species of ash in the mountains of Greece is Fraxinus ornus, Manna-ash. The Meliae were nurses of the infant Zeus. They fed him honey."
This is also a genus of tropical tree, pronounced MEE-lee-a.
Melia is a such a pretty name.
Also spelled Malia (Muh-lee-a) - Hawaiian for "Mary".
Also pronounced Muh-lee-a.
