It's very pretty in my opinion! I pronounce it mill e nuh. I think it's prettiest that way. It's a nice alternative to Amelia. I love the nickname Millie! Amelia has the nickname Millie also and is a very pretty name but if you're going for something a bit less popular, then go with Milena!
BEAUTIFUL NAME! SLAYYYYYYY YOU PERFECT QUEEN!
This is my name! It's kinda annoying how bad people are at pronouncing it, other than that I think it's really pretty. ^^ (I'm a little biased tbh)
Decent name. Parents should use this instead of Milan for a girl.
Name Milena sounds like the medical term MELENA. Sorry.
This sounds so soft and sweet! It's so stunningly pretty.
This name in Italy isn't very common. I very like the nickname Lena. When I think about this name I imagine a woman with short hair and a mysterious vibe. I think it's easy to pronounce this name.
I'm also Milena, and have always had a love/hate relationship with my name, hated to be different as a child brought up in the North East of England, with a Slavic surname as well, I stood out and constantly had my name mispronounced. Love it though that I was named for my father, whom my mother left when I was 7 - I never saw him again but so proud of him - a Yugoslav partisan who came to the UK at the end of WW2, and because my husband loves my name, he thinks it is exotic and special - and it is. And a girl - lady now - born in Blyth, Northumberland, has this name, although no connection with me - has this name simply because she heard my mother calling me one day when she was pregnant. On balance, I'm blessed to have my name.
My name is Milena and I think it is a beautiful name. My cousin's name is Luidmila and my name actually came from hers! ❤❤.
Not only is this name pretty, but it has a nice meaning, too. I just can't decide if I like Milena or Milana more.
My husband is Spanish and I'm American, we just named our daughter Milena after looking for something not too common that would be easy to pronounce in Spanish and English. Unfortunately we have found that a lot of English speakers pronounce it Muh-le-nuh, which doesn't sound nearly as pretty as Mee-lay-na (as we call her). Her nickname is Millie and sometimes Mile (Mee-lay).
It is a very beautiful and unique name. Beautiful meaning. It is also my daughter's name and she gets a lot of complements about her name.
My name is Milena - I am Australian, and I recently found out that my name is ranked #4 in Armenia. Some of my nicknames are Milla and Mia, however there is also Nina or Nia or maybe Lena.
I pronounce it Mee -lee - nar. I am relatively sure it means 'dear' and 'favoured'.
I've loved this name ever since I found it in a baby name book years ago, as a young name nerd. I'd love to call my daughter Milena, with the nickname Lena (though Mila like how Mila Kunis shortened her name is also stunning).
Very pretty name, but in America it's very likely that it would get pronounced "ma-lee-na", which isn't so pretty.
It's a pretty name, but it sounds cold somehow. Like the name of a disaffected girl/woman. I don't know. Mila sounds friendlier, probably because Mila Kunis has always struck me as a nice person.
Not to brag but my name is Milena. I am eternally grateful for my parents for choosing this name because
1. I am partly Italian so they gave me an Italian name to honor my ancestry (I am proud of my ethnicity)
2. When they saw that I had super dark eyes they named me Milena (They had an etymology dictionary that said Milena was a form of Melanie which means "dark") It defines me.
3. They chose a unique and rare name (I know no other Milena except Mila Kunis (thank god they know her as Mila not Milena))
4. There is no diminutive (I like my full name.)
To the comment above, you are SO lucky to have this name! You should brag! It is such a unique and BEAUTIFUL name. And "dark" is a beautiful meaning. This has been my favorite name for years and years. I like the nicknames Mimi and Lena! This is one of the most beautiful names in the whole world. I am most likely going to be naming my first daughter this.
It is such a beautiful name. If I could ever have the choice of changing my name - it would be to this.
It's actually my name and I'm the only one in my family who likes my name (thank you Mom!). I like it because it's not a complicated name but yet, it's not a name you hear much except in Eastern Europe.
This is my friend's name. I think it sounds pretty and exotic!
