Means "unconquered, invincible" in Tibetan, from the negative participle མི (mi) meaning "not, non" and ཕམ (pham) "defeated, subdued". This is the Tibetan translation of Sanskrit AJIT and an epithet for Maitreya, a bodhisattva and future Buddha in Buddhist belief.
